Fleming News
So far this has been an excellent term for Fleming House. As always we have had students involved in
many House and school events. We have also had some individual achievements to report. We raised
HK$29,000 during Fleming charity week for our chosen charity, Katja House in Kathmandu. During
CAS Fleming students joined others to visit the orphanage, spending the money on clothes, 2 toasters,
perfume, deodorant and a bright red Fleming rubbish bin.
This term has seen Fleming come 1st overall in the Interhouse swimming competition and joint 2nd in the cross country event. Most of Fleming students competed in these events and showed impressive commitment and enthusiasm. Well done everyone!
In year 7 we have seen Nicole Fong gain the first bronze award in the school and Adrian Chui came 5th runner up in the 2011 Hong Kong Junior Chess Competition. In year 12 Audrey Chaytor and Dickson Wong were part of the Sedan Chair team who raced in October.
This term we have seen Annie Lye and Leah Metoudi both 12F selected as co-editors of this year’s Islander, I’m sure that they will do a fantastic job. Annie also achieved great success in a photography competition that was organized by the HKU Museum Society to commemorate the university’s centenary. Four of Annie’s photographs were selected for the exhibition, well Done Annie!
Daniel Lo and Jonathan Leung both of 13F organized this year’s Rainbow Trek which is a very demanding job but both really stepped up to the plate and did an outstanding job, well done guys!
In the Rainbow Trek Dickson Wong 12F came first in the individual student event and completed the 50km trek in 7 hours and 15. Mr. Chillingworth was the first member of staff to finish.
Nigvi Tam 12F achieved the Team Project Award for Engineering and Environment from HKUST Summer Institute Award Presentation Ceremony. Well done Nigvi!
I would also like to thank the House prefects in 13F for an excellent job last year and would also like to welcome our new 12F prefects: Senior Sports Prefects Audrey Chaytor and Dickson Wong, Senior Communication prefects Nigvi Tam and Michelle Kung, Senior Charity prefects Sian Robinson and Sara Kelly and general House prefects Tiffany Lau, Zoe Lau, Tom Kim, Judy Tam, Tina Chin, Leah Metoudi, Annie Lye, Sanneke Ros, Sakshi Bhatia, Suraj Mahbubani and Timothy Lim.
Well done to everyone in Fleming House for an excellent first term and here’s to an amazing 2012!
